I began my project using the Design brief that our Tutor Jerry had given us. The Breif was to Create a cover and a visual sample for a double page spreed for two different books. The ‘Colours of New Zealand” and a biography of a famous family member or friend.

I learned alot on how to set up my layout, looking at Layout books and grids so as to Get a wide idea on how to Lay the Project out.

By using this idea, i decided, due to the fact that i didn’t have very many photos of around New Zealand, That i would do it on the Local Sea wall project that was going on. Going out, i took photos and chose the best ones i could get with the weather conditions.

I also looked into the PangeaSeed Sea wall booklet on how they laid it out. However I found that it was very bold and vibrant with the Artists works, And i lost site of where the information was. SW_NZ_Booklet_web1

So i created my own simple layout, going with different styles and opting for one that focused more on the colour swatches then the information.

From this, i created a publication combining the idea of “Colours of New Zealand” and “Sea Wall Project”, and created the “Colours of PangeaSeed Sea Walls”, seen in the link below. http://issuu.com/kaleighsha/docs/untitled-3/1

I enjoyed the task of making a publication, however i believe i would need to send alot more time then i did to get it to a standard i would like it at. I would also create the book so as to have all of the sea walls in it, however, due to the complication of finding the walls even with a map, i may have to go with someone that already knows all the locations of the Walls.
